I've been seeing a pretty pink tree around the neighborhood recently and I've been wondering what it was. I dont have a picture so i'll discribe it. I've only seen it from a distance and havent looked at it closely so my discription will be extremely vague. Its im guessing 10? maybe 15 feet tall with pink buds. And its at the very end of winter in northern Claifornia and from a distance i havent seen leaves just pink flowers. im going to check one out more closely soon so ill update probably tonight. and for you who dont know the Greek word for what is it? is manna. and i have to anounce this yesterday i started my first garden by planting strawberries. I'm so happy!

make sure you put straw around your plants. that way when it rains the fruit wont touch the ground and rot. and congrats!!!!! i love gardening, it gets in your blood. may your plants bouble in size and bear godzilla sized fruit!

Pink flowering dogwood comes to mind. It reaches about 15 feet. Blooms early.

I made a mistake. The flowers are actually more lavendar than pink, and the bark of the tree is rather dark.Thanks Mskitty and i hope yours do too!

I made a picture of this one nearby, all flowers and no leaves, but the flowers are kinda white so yours probably an other.

What about a Red Bud? They grow wild and flower in early spring with lavender flowers around Kentucky.

Red Bud would be my guess, too. But I'm not sure that they grow there. Lived in So Cal most of my life and don't remember seeing them there.

But here in N.FL...there are multitudes of Red Buds and they are BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Hey, thanks everyone. I checked all of these trees. I haven't found my tree yet but the tulip tree was actually a tree that I also thought was pretty and...well...I guess I know what it's called now!

could be a tulip magnolia. we have those blooming here now, even with the freaky weather we have been having. the dogwoods havent bloomed here yet, neither have the red buds.
