Default Morning Glories....not an annual

I started these on our pool fence years ago for some privacy
Used to be a straight shot to view the pool from the street
Also on the side pool fence to block the neighbors...bathing suit optional nites

Well 6 years later they just keep coming back
Wife hates them growing so much around the pool gate
I've been moving them to other fences & trying to get rid of them near the pool
The addition blocks the pool from the street, & a tree I planted blocks the nighbors

Pretty certain they are annuals. No doubt just reseeding themselves from last year.

Edit...just did some searching and read they are considered perennials in frost-free places and annuals in colder climates. Some species can tolerate winter cold.

BTW, have you ever tried moonflowers? Very similar to morning glories, but larger, white flowers. They bloom at night (hence the name) and are pollinated by moths.

The only way to get rid of mornig glories is to keep them from blooming. Each flower will produce about a dozen seeds and they have a very high germination rate.

Yes, I've tried the moonflowers
But they really needed to be on a fence by themselves

We have had temps down to the single digits & they still come back every year
I've planted all different colors - like red...white
But only the pink & purple seem to come back

The fact that pink and purple comes back every year probably means that they are the genetically dominant colors.
