Not sure about that. If we get a frost I will simply wrap the heart of the tree. When it gets bigger it can better handle more cold.

Coconut palm hasn’t gained any height. I think it’s a runt. It was originally in our neighbors yard along with three others all in the same conditions. The other three took off but this one didn’t. I asked if I could have it, and they said I could.

Some of the coconuts I have opened hadn’t developed properly and were only filled halfway with water or meat, thus only half the energy supplied when young. I think that’s what happened to this one. It’s a runt.

However, I got another one, that looks much more robust and healthy. This one is a yellow coconut. I don’t know the exact variety, but thinking maybe a King Coconut. Again, the only thing I am going off is the orange leaf “petioles”? Pics soon.

In the meantime, here is a picture of a coconut palm growing 17 miles away. I know that’s not right next door, but it’s still pretty darn close. It's kind of hanging over a canal which probably provides warmth in the winter.

That's a beautiful sight! I love Palm Trees.

I acquired a very nice young Mexican Palm that was about 4ft high. In 3 years it got to about 12 ft.

Unfortunately... I think it died in the Texas Winter storm
I cut all the leaves off and it still has not sprouted back any leaves.
I wouldn't have gotten any coconuts from it but I just love the look.

I guess that's why we're all here to begin with because we love tropical plants lol

I would love to grow coconuts here!. Oh well...

Just remember when you go to harvest them, don't forget to wear your tree climbing shoes!

Hey “Joe”! Your palm tree looks good! Looks like it’s grown a lot over the year! Plus that orange one is pretty cool!
