Never give the entertainment center a thought for germinating palm seeds. What a brilliant Idea...thanks!!

nannerfunboi,

Trachicarpus is quite hardy, I lost one though (young one) at -13 last winter, its just spear pulled. I would wrap in fleece.

Beautiful palms everyoneand very helpful seeing the seedlings.

I don't know what I will do with all the seedlings, but I sure have lots of re-potting to do

You do sunfish,

Would it not be easier for you to stagger the seeds sowing?

I don't have a big enough house, my window sills can get pretty full in spring but not to that amount.

Good luck with them anyway, I think that you are brilliant at germination. I am on day one of soaking a Butia deliverd yesterday.

What do we do after soaking, do we scrape some of the outer away before sowing?

Thanks sunfish

I don't scrape seeds, although a little sanding may help speed up germination.

Best thing for you sunfish,

A market garden/car boot/stall. That way at least you could sell the stock. What about selling on Ebay?

I just bought some CIDP seed ready sprouted (not been delivered yet) , I tried those for two years without sucess.

I guess spring/ summer is best time to germinate seeds. I would have bought two Butia capitata off you but thats all I would need lol (small garden) not much use to you is it when you have a mountain of seed.

I buy a great many plants, I think I am addicted lol maybe that is the same with your seeds. People get a 'high' off different things.

I would sell plants but shipping out of CA. needs Phytosanitary Certificate,as far as I know. I am not sure about shipping seed.but CIDP and Queen Palm seed are everywhere around here.

How do you do it sunfish,

Nothing is beyond you in germinating, even a Cycad had germinted for you.

The Butia I tried never did appear.
