Re: Show your VARIEGATED Plants here!
Hey, Taylor...that variegated Tradescantia isn't THAT unusual, but it is very nice. I've got one also, and so does a friend of mine in Kansas. It will take over, so you have to keep it under control somewhow.
A few more variegates that I've found: Variegated Solanum ptycanthum. It looks so much better now than in this weeks-old pic! Variegated Cypripedium reginae. Unbelieveable, really, since this is a very rare plant in TN anyway! But we managed to find a variegated one. An update on my variegated Catharanthus rosea. It does burn in full sun, but seems to do well in 50% shade. Still needs to be trialed outside. Cuttings have been rooted, so trials will be carried out next year in several spots around the country. I also have a nicely variegated Physalis longifolia that I haven't taken a picture of yet. Soon! Frank |

Re: Show your VARIEGATED Plants here!
Well, shucks... haha. It's alright, I guess, because it' just sitting here in a pot anyway. I'm not going to put it in the ground because of its invasive nature.
Where do you work at, Frank? Must be a bot. garden/extension or nursery to be finding all those things! |

Re: Show your VARIEGATED Plants here!
Taylor, I'm now the greenhouse mgr. for the UT Trial Gardens. However...I found the Solanum ptycanthum in a bed full of weeds near one of our outdoor gardens from the Biology Dept. The Physalis, no picture yet, was found when I was fishing in the Caney Fork River in Mid-TN. The Catharanthus was a branch sport from an old plant in one of the greenhouses in the Biology Dept. The variegated Cypripedium reginae, which is the most exciting find, was found out in the field in Campbell County, TN, when a friend and I were looking for something else.
