Default Stupid Q Of The Day!

Like the title says this is probably the stupid question of the day (or-week), but there is only ONE way too find out for sure (too ask)! I have a lot of shredded-paper and was just wondering if ANY kind of plant would do well just using the shredded paper instead of soil? Watering/feeding it thou like a normal plant!
Robby
P.S. or is there a GOOD-USE for them?

One thing to remember Robby, is that once shredded paper gets wet, they will lump up and get compacted. It means you will have to keep adding them. Also, they need to be constantly wet or they will dry up fast. I am speaking from my experience of using them when I bred mice and other rodents for my reptiles. So if you don't mind the constant work, it should work. Lastly, they will break down with constant watering. It should work for most plants if kept moist and monitored.

I have also tried wrapping some seeds in newspaper and throwing it on top of a pot and when kept wet, the seeds germinated after a while.

No Q is stupid when asked. We tend to remain stupid if we don't ask! Cheers!

If it's just reg white paper it might be best used as a dry ingredient in a compost pile. Mixed with kitchen scraps it would do well. Also a good start as bedding material for vermicomposting if you're in to that.

Oi Robby, I didn't notice it earlier, how come this Thread is on Other recipes forum? It may well end up as "Stupid Post Of The Day!"
