That's a little modest Greenster, don't you think? I counted more than 60 fruit on it last month when I visited.

Wow Greenie! "A very vigorous grower" (LOL) You can say that again. I have never seen anything like that but it gives me some hope. Growing tropicals and subtropics can be very interesting when you get rewards like that.

I have heard that papayas love water and fertilizer, so I try to feed mine every couple of weeks with a non-burning fish emulsion and a generic fertilizer. What the heck are you doin' for yours to get that tree so happy? Good golly, she looks like she's gonna crash! Thanks for the pics!

Fish emulsion is a source of nitrogen with a little DDT and machine oil added in. Repeated applications of nitrogen without significant potash will cause the plant to focus on leaf and stem growth. I would feed it a citrus formula such as 9-3-6, 15-5-10, 28-8-18, etc.

I can vouch for Sunrise Solo. I've had great luck with it from seed. Papayas can be set back from transplanting... they hate to be transplanted. Try direct seeding to get faster fruit. Sunrise Solo has amazing flavor and I have noticed that all of the trees (I have about 8 of them) are setting fruit due to male and female flowers on the same plant. I'd like to try some other varieties so Sweet Sue sounds interesting and looks great.

I got my seed from Baker Creek, but the last time I checked they didn't have it available, which is a shame.

Anyone ever notice fungus growing on the leaves of their papayas? My TR Hovey papayas have what looks like powdery mildew on the leaves. It started last winter and I haven't been able to eradicate it with copper, Serenade, or Actinovate. On the up side, it hasn't seemed to affect the plants too horribly. My "Mexican papayas" don't seem to get this fungus.
