Texas Star hibiscus seeds...
Well, my Texas Star hibiscus plants, (Hibiscus coccineus) are really putting out the seeds now. I have harvested some of both my red and white ones. I had two plants that I overwintered in pots in my garage from last fall and planted out this spring. I also had great success growing them from seeds that I started in Jan./Feb. The seeds I started this year grew into plants that are blooming their heads off right now. Before I go to the trouble of gathering more seeds, I wanted to see if anyone is interested in trying these GREAT looking plants for themselves. If anyone is interested in starting them from seed, send me a pm. If not, I am not going to go to the trouble of gathering anymore seeds.
I may have a couple of small potted plants that I would part with if someone wanted to pay shipping on them. Otherwise, I only have seeds... Just thought I would offer these to my friends on Bananas.org!!! |

Re: Texas Star hibiscus seeds...
Randy I didnt know what this plant was till I saw this post!!
My neighbor gave it to me a couple of months ago. Either I forgot what she said it was , or she didnt know either! It started making pods and I thought "well this will be interesting"! At least now people will stop thinking its a weed plant! Yea right! Like I would grow that right out in full view!! I'll shoot you a pm for the white seeds should you have anymore. Thanks Here's a couple pictures of mine. It just bloomed this morning......................

Re: Texas Star hibiscus seeds...
They are beautiful but no way I could grow them unless I had the police over for a BBQ on a regular basis so they could check me out. We have such a bad marijuana problem out here. Even some farmers are growing it as they can't make ends meet farming. Planes fly over and one time we had a helicoptor make a nose dive in the field next to us. Boy was that loud. Shoot... I'm probably suspicious enough with my plant room glowing in the evenings with grow lights in the winter.

Re: Texas Star hibiscus seeds...
Hi there,
I just found this website while looking for info on Texas Star hibiscus. I have the red type and would very much like to have seeds from the white Texas Star hibiscus. Do you have any left? If so, what do I need to do next? Joy37 West Texas Zone 7 |

Re: Texas Star hibiscus seeds...
Randy, I'm about to get a bloom on my Red Star that I got as a small seedling last year. The white ones I grew from seed are growing up now too. I will be pushing them for a bloom later this summer. Can't wait! Thanks again, my friend.

For the folks that are wanting seeds and have pm'd me in the past, I will be sure to post when I start having seeds to share. Some of you I could not answer back due to the security you have placed on your account and it says you are not willing to let anyone pm you. If you pm me, be sure that I can reply or there will not be any way for me to contact you. Thanks.... Austin, keep me updated on their progress... |

Re: Texas Star hibiscus seeds...
Does anyone still have the white seeds of texas star? I have the red texas star. The wind blew and broke some of the branches. So I don't know if it will bloom this year or not.

Unfortuantely, last year's seeds are gone, but mine , both red and white, have come back stronger than ever after one of my worst winters in the past 5 years. The red one has been blooming for about a week and a half now, and today, the white one gave me its first bloom of the season. Contact me in a couple of weeks and hopefully, I will start having some seeds to send folks that want to try them... |

Re: Texas Star hibiscus seeds...
Hey Mark,
I should have plenty here shortly. Both types were some of the first plants up this spring and have done very well for me. As I stated in previous post, white one is just starting to bloom, so it will be several weeks before they seed. I will let you know and send some your way. Good to hear from you... |
