Trachy. wagnerianus

I am in love with this plant, I love the bonzai-like appearance and the neat growth habit. Looks good in a small pot as well as in the ground. I took the step today and ordered 100 seeds. Trachies grow slowly when young, but I am planning my retirement! Like everything pleasing to the eye that comes in limited quantities, this plant is expensive if you buy it at garden centres.

Is anyone else growing this one? Can I please see some pictures?

I know Austin has several of these, and I am sure he will be posting pics of them when he sees this. I, too, love this Trachy and will be getting one (plant) this spring to add to my collection. Good to see others that have good taste when it comes to hardy palms!!! BTW, did you get shaken up much from the earthquake? I read where it was a 6.2!!! Hope all is well over there...

Looking forward to seeing Austin and others' wagnerianus pics then!

I must admit I slept like a stone tonight, and didn't notice the Earthquake, that's said to be the most powerful in Norways modern history.
I am at the southern tip of mainland Norway, and the earthquake had it's epicentre far north, not far from Spitsbergen islands.
Maybe a few polar bears got a little surprise this morning!

BTW, Wagnerianus is said to grow in a sheltered spot on the Faroe Islands, and doing well!!

Hi Erlend, I HAD a seedling of it but it died this winter

it is sayed that it is as cold hardy as a Tr.Fortunei but that it grows a little bit slower, I think that if you protect them to the rain in the winterhmontsh that they can survive easily there, here in holland I also know people wich are growing Wagnerianus and in Norway there will also be people wich grows this beautiful palm.
succes with the seeds and you know that the seeds don't like heat/warmth??
(20-23 degrees is enough)

Hi, Erland. I just saw this post and wanted to show you a few pics. I am growing three different types of wagnerianus here in Arkansas Zone 7b. They suffer no winter damage and are growing nicely. I just started 100 seeds myself from a Canadian strain, and I'm waiting on them to germinate. To see the waggies that I'm growing, click here:Waggies
