Hah, we just picked some pineapple guava of various types (most are from older seedling plants) today also. I pointed out to my son that they were dropping and he gathered a bunch up and gave some to his friends from the farm next door.

With our first cold front/frost almost a month ago, I thought that I had picked the last from my garden. We have had several days below freezing...but not too far below.

I still have a few tomatoes that have not died. I picked about a quart of cherry tomatoes and a half dozen wilfords. Also, just a couple days ago, I picked about a quart of green beans...definitely the last of them this season.

You have to love those micro climates. My brothers tomatoes froze solid Oct 1.

Somewhere around 200-250 pounds of pomegranates, consisting of about 20 varieties. Some are split and will be juiced or turned into jelly and some others will be sent to a customer of mine that encouraged me two years ago to plant some pomegranates for commercial production. I only got poked 20 times or so, but no blood!

My dog is so helpful. I went outside to check on him about mid-day and there on the back door mat was a big fat pineapple guava. So I took a bucket up to the guavas and sure enough, the rain had knocked off about 2 gallons of 'Lickvers Pride' pineapple guavas onto the ground. There's still about 5 gallons on the shrub with a few days of ripening to go.

My plants still aren't producing many pineapple guava yet, but we got a bag full at my sister's again where we had Thanksgiving dinner. Her "tree" is large, about 12' tall, and has a good crop with any large fruits (larger than Jumbo chicken eggs). I may want to airlayer it or make a graft from it one of these days to see how it does here.

Well I can say my estimate was wrong again.. As the winds kick up along with the squirrel count #125 I'm over 7.5 bushels of pecans, and decided to donate 2.5 bushels to the local food bank so those folks can enjoy them like my neighbors :^)

Tony, is that guava from Ong Nursery? I know they have a guava that produces large fruit like that.

I got this plant from Lowe's as tropical white. I think it's Bangkok guava .

Interesting. "Tropical White" is a trade name used by La Verne's for one of their guava cultivars.

Richard this is the one I showed you when you were here. This guava never gets soft until it rots. The other guava from Lowes ,topical pink, has no pink yellow skin white inside.

La Verne's is a vendor for Lowe's. Some people up in the Bay Area have had some Lowe's and Home Depot stores do special orders from La Verne's for them.

Ong's guava reaches up to 2 pounds and it is the hard type like yours, Tony.
