picked 15 10# size boxes of tomatoes for market tomorrow along with 2 bushels bell peppers and 1/2 bushel summer squash. we have garlic and onions and okra and cauliflower to sell tomorrow too. A friend is bringing me 18 dz ears of corn to sell tomorrow so we'll have a busy day. And loaded up the other truck with 12 starfighter oriental lilies in good bloom, 2 large basjoo, 4 minis, butterfly bushes, hardy hibiscus, blackeyed susans, 2 flats of herbs and 6 hard to kill sun-loving hanging baskets. Should be a good day.

These are pics of peppers and tomatoes I harvestad yesterday

Peppers are grown under heavy shade cloth and thats the reason they are so big, others grown in full sun are hardly quater of this size. Next season I ll have to make same protection for tomatoes, most of this year crop has sun burns.

makes sence

right?

today I picked 200 lbs of slicing tomatoes, 20 boxes, not counting the canning tomatoes that weren't pretty enough to put in boxes.
down from last week though, when I picked 32 boxes full--The funny thing is though, keep in mind that this storage area is our living room! lol...

Yes, I grow plants all year long, but in the summer we plant every little bit of ground we have in market gardens for the farmers market and our farm stand. I take veggies and plants May-October on Weds. and Saturday to our local farmers market. I also do mail order, we have a veggie stand set up here at the house, and then in the fall I do pumpkins and mums, gather in all the perennials for winter storage, and start on Christmas wreaths. After Christmas, I order in all my seeds and starter plants, relax and clean the house just a bit, and start over planting seeds in January.
This is one garden of three, the rows are about 100 feet long. Guess who grows all the plants for my market garden? I raised all these since they were seeds...the peppers in the immediate foreground are bhut jolokia

Started some $1.00 apiece seeds of Bih Jolokia in Feb and one made it. Just harvested the first 3 red ones for seed and I got gassed good. The fumes in the kitchen started to build up and I ran outside to finish. I of course used latex gloves but did not expect this kind of potency.

My sinus passages tingled for the rest of the day and I did not need any Nasonex before bed.

Man these guys are tough!! One day I hope to get my hands on the world's newest hottest pepper - the Naga Viper. I did a post on this one earlier.

Plan to use these guys to keep critters at bay in the back yard. Also will cook up some channa masala using a small amt of Jolokia. Channa Bhatura - one of the worlds best meals without meat.

Has anyone tried cooking with the Jolokia?

Harvested some hot peppers today as well. Not sure what kind they are but they are very short and very very hot with lots of seeds. I can only take very small nibbles. Nice flavor and super good heat.
