Default What is this tree? (No pics)

I've been noticing this tree that looks like a lot like a eucalyptus but the flowers are very tassel-like (reminds me of a crape myrtle). The color of the flowers are like very bright salmon-pink and I see it planted more along the freeways here in So Cal and it mixes in with the eucalyptus trees very well, until it blooms. They aren't very tall however, I would say the average height seems to be about 20 to 25 ft or so.
