I grow them...Concord however; the coon's here in Lizard Creek seem to get them just about when they are near ripe:{

So this year I feel I'm going to have a win/win situation coon gumbo and some grapes lol

Here's the recipe I use:}

I've been growing Purple Muscadine and another variety on a trellis. It's also a purple seeded grape, but I lost the tag a couple years ago and can't remember what kind it is. I did make some grape juice from it last year. I'm also trying to propagate both now.

Thumbs up Re: Who's Growing Grapes?

I have grown a number of varieties in California. I now live in Washington state and grow about four different varieties: green table grape, pinot noir, red flame, and chardonnay. I have not yet had much of a crop yet from any of them, but this year will be three years in my garden so I expect more. Enjoy your grapes!

We have concord, this is a shot from last year. I hope they look as good this year. It is a 37 foot summer privacy fence. Last your we had a hard time finding homes for all the grapes so much went to waste. We need a bigger freezer.

I yanked out all my Muscadines and replaced them with seeded and seedless Concord. Pierce's disease will eventually wipe them out in S FL but I'll still get to enjoy one of my favorite varieties. Will replace vines as necessary.

I added a seedless red and a seedless green to my "collection" several years ago - at least according to the tags - but when they produced fruit for the first time they were both purple and seeded.......concord.
Oh well, they make good jams

And last summer I bought a "pixie", only 18" tall and deliciously sweet almost black fruit when ripe

Pierces disease will kill the northern bunch grape vines in S FL in about 5 to 7 years. They will grow fine till then. So if you really love a certain variety just start new vines in the 3rd or 4th year and plant them. Problem solved.

I grew up eating Concord seeded fresh. The taste is wonderfullllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!

They go great with my Mallika, Glenn, Pickering, Xoai Cat Hoa Loc, Nam Doc Mai, Sweet Tart and Cogshall mangos.

Relative to being killed off by Pierces disease, will that also occur in NWFL? I always assume you could not grow bunch grapes in my region. So maybe constant replanting would be a solution for us up here?

Contact your local Master Gardeners group. Nursery owners that know what they are taking about should know.

I saw a nice Thompson Seedless vine at the Nursery the other day with several bunches of baby grapes on it. I was tempted to pick it up, but I'm running out of room in my yard.
