Only have a minute - what bamboo people do is dig a foot deep trench all the way around the clump - apparently when the stolons hit an air gap they stop, unlike most things that would go up or down.
Glyphosate - yes, I have had fair luck with chopping down the offending shoot and dripping straight stuff on the remains. Good luck.

Grow clumpers instead of runners.

I have a problem with some bamboo that a neighbor planted that has invaded my property and that of another neighbor. I have other issues to deal with and will maybe next return to eradicating that bamboo in the fall. Currently I am cutting it down when ever I see it.
Hydroid graciously gave me some clumping bamboo which I have planted. It survived last winter and but is not growing rapidly.

Hi Carl,

The clumpers take a little time to start sending up a lot of culms but they will. Mine are starting to grow some. In a few years they will look like Arachnotron's.

Life - Some assembly required, As is no warranty, Batteries not included, Instructions shipped separately and are frequently wrong!

Kentucky Bourbon - It may not solve the problem but it helps to make it tolerable!

Statistics - Data that analyst twist to support the insane opinions of those that pay them.
