Re: All-Hallows-Eve!!! (Halloween)
Ok Rae, here I was...
Teasing of course but yes the dress was a Princesses dress for sure and Halloween is a great excuse to wear something like that. My friend dressed as a Princess last year and her dress was just gorgeous too with a crinoline and a silk bodice with beads. I was so jealous because I was dressed as a Catholic schoolgirl and wore my old highschool kilt and white knee socks uniform...not so flashy and showy like her costume was. Anyone else like to share what their favorite Halloween costume was...even if it was 20 years ago? : ) Last edited by The Hollyberry Lady : 10-13-2010 at 04:23 PM. |

Re: All-Hallows-Eve!!! (Halloween)
The skies they were ashen and sober; The leaves they were withering and sere- It was night in the lonesome October ...Edgar Allan Poe Hey ho for Halloween When the fairies all are seen; Some black and some green, Hey ho for Halloween! ...Traditional Irish Rhyme Jack-o-Lantern Jack-o-lantern, Jack-o-lantern, You are such a funny sight. As you sit there by the window, Looking out into the night. You were once a sturdy pumpkin, growing on a curly vine. Now you are a Jack-o-lantern, See your night lights shine. Five little pumpkins Sitting on a gate. The first one said, "Oh, my it's getting late!" The second one said, "There are witches in the air!" The third one said, "Well, I don't care!" The fourth one said, "Let's run and run and run!" The fifth one said, "I'm ready for some fun!" Ooooo went the wind And out went the lights And the five little pumpkins Rolled out of sight. We bought a fat orange pumpkin The plumpest sort they sell. We neatly scooped the inside out And only left the shell. We carved a funny funny-face Of silly shape and size, A pointy nose, a jagged mouth And two enormous eyes. We set it in a window And we put a candle in, Then lit it up for all to see Our jack-o'lantern grin. The jack -o'lantern chuckled Then winked his funny eye, "I would rather be a pumpkin-face Than be inside a pie!" Jolly wolly pumpkin face You're happy tell us why. I'd rather be a pumpkin face And not a pumpkin pie! : ) |

Re: All-Hallows-Eve!!! (Halloween)
Easy Pumpkin Pie Recipe The hardest part about making pumpkin pie is getting the crust right. With this easy pumpkin pie recipe, you don't have to worry about that, because it starts with a frozen pie crust. Crushed pecans and graham crackers provide a barrier to keep the pie crust from getting soggy. To make this easy pumpkin pie a tad healthier, use a whole wheat frozen pie crust. You can find them in specialty grocery stores. Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 1 hour, 5 minutes Total Time: 1 hour, 15 minutesIngredients: •1 9-inch frozen pie crust, thawed according to package directions •1/2 cup crushed graham crackers •1/2 cup finely chopped pecans •2 large eggs •1 15 oz. can pumpkin puree (unsweetened, not pumpkin pie mix) •3/4 cup sugar •1 12 oz. can evaporated milk (skim is okay) •1 tsp. cinnamon •1/2 tsp. kosher salt •1/2 tsp. nutmeg •1/2 tsp. ground cloves •whipped cream, for garnish Preparation: 1.Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. 2.Mix graham cracker crumbs and chopped pecans. Press into bottom and up the sides of thawed pie crust, forming a thin layer on top of the pie crust. 3.Whisk the eggs in a large bowl. Add the remaining ingredients. Pour into prepared crust. 4.Bake 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees F. Bake another 35-50 minutes, until a knife inserted one inch from the edge comes out mostly clean. The center of the pie will still look wet and be jiggly. 5.Cool completely (2-3 hours) before serving. Top with whipped cream, if desired. : ) |

Re: All-Hallows-Eve!!! (Halloween)
Caramel Apples... 12 apples (plus 12 popsicle sticks) 4 14-ounce packages of caramels 8 tablespoons heavy cream crushed nuts Rinse apples, pat dry, and remove apple stems and insert a popsicle stick into stem of each apple. Combine the cream and caramels in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until caramel is melted and smooth. Dip the apples into the caramel until completely covered. Let the extra caramel drip back into the saucepan. Roll in crushed nuts. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper. Place apples upside down on waxed paper and refrigerate. : ) |

That's a female bugie because of the tan colored cere above the beak.
That cat is gorgeous but wouldn't she just love to get a hold of that bird! : ) Last edited by The Hollyberry Lady : 10-21-2010 at 08:43 PM. Reason: damn spelling!!! |

Re: All-Hallows-Eve!!! (Halloween)
HA! HA! Henry's girlfriend then! Hey, I can't even tell with some of my chickens until they lay and egg or crow - sooooooo.......... what can I say?
It is the opposite at my house. The cats are at the window or doors watching the chickens and birds. They would love to try and get their claws in them I am sure. ~J
