It's been my experience with HF that they are constantly running them on sale and if they are not they send out 20% off coupons. If you are not on their mailing list/e-mail get on it and you will get coupons all the time. The coupons are only good for items not on sale though no double dipping.

As far as the items themselves, it is a bit of a crap shoot. Some things are ok and others, well they are best used once and chunked. Most of the things I get there last a good bit BUT I try to examine them before I buy.

Their website also has customer reviews which are pretty honest I’d say. There is a good bit of negative adds so it doesn't appear they only post the good ones.

I had not heard of harbor freight so I checked out their website and found an 8x6 greenhouse that was listed on sale for $299 (don't know which one you had ordered) and read some of the reviews. If this is the unit that you were interested it does sound like a bit of a gamble as to the structural reliability. I found that when purchasing greenhouses that quiet often the pricier ones are that way for a reason and worth the extra cost.
My first greenhouse was a spur of the moment purchase and had the pop in panels so on windy days the panels would pop out - we fixed this with caulking. The second one I did the research and spent the extra money ($525) for a double walled unit with the panels that slid in so that I could overwinter my exotics in it (the double walls retain more heat which is good for northern zone 8). Don't get me wrong, both do the job they were purchased for and I think were worth the monies.
FYI, if you read reviews about how long it takes to put these together believe what people are saying - allow one FULL day of 8-10 hours to put them together, and this does not include preparing your base.

I have ten pairs of gloves.
I have a stack of twenty percent off coupons
I purchased a 4.5 inch Pittsburg Angle grinder 3 years ago and use it more than two hours a week.

They give you these flashlights for "free"
Each flashlight contains four AAA batteries.
AAA batteries are 3 dollars US for a refill .
You can buy them at H.F. on sale.
If I have 40x4x3dollars thats 120.00 dollars US.
HMMMMMM . Is it really free?
Does it make sense?

I agree but in todays society they do play an important part. All of you think back to when you couldn't afford good tools and the availability of the hard to find things was non existant back then. There are many people who still can't afford the good stuff and HF is a great thing for them.

It still is like a candy store when I go in there I just have to check it out before I buy. In a project I'm involved in now we were looking at an item that is about $99 at HF and if you buy the good one about $400. If it lasts the one job which it will and honestly probably quite a few more then it will have served it's purpose.

Remember even cockroaches have a purpose and it isn't to stick to the bottom of your shoe! LOL

Thanks for the heads up on the batteries!

Great idea for stocking stuffers for small kids. They love their own flashlight!

Here is a case in point.

I'm pouring some deep form concrete Saturday and most concrete vibrators are well over $100.00 which is not in my budget right now. I pulled up HF and they have the El Cheapo regular price $99

But

it is on sale for $79. Win Win!

I go up there and as I'm in the checkout she asked me if I'm a member of their club. She goes on to explain that I'll receive specials, freebies, early admission to sales and coupons for only $29.99. Well thanks but I'm not interested.

Out of the corner of my eye I see this weeks "Deals of the Day" adds and there is my vibrator for $69. I mention that it's too bad that it isn't Sunday since that was Sundays deal.

She looks me in the eye and says If you were to tell me you'd join today if I give it to you for that price we can do it and you'll get a ten dollar gift certificate you can use today plus you get ten dollars off the club member ship price.

Now I'm not the most intelligent guy but $10 off the tool, $10 off the member ship and a $10 gift certificate is like joining for free so I did.

I'll report back and let you know how the tool performed.

I had no idea that a concrete vibrator was so cheap. I usually shake the rebar back and forth to get rid of the larger voids and a concrete vibrator would be a useful item indeed.

My only experience with concrete vibrators has been with them bolted to a length of pipe that is place on soft polluted sediments and the vibration results in the 3 inch aluminum pipe going deeply into the sediment to obtain a "vibracore". The price just for the vibrator several years ago was about 1200-1500 dollars. So less than a hundred is a very good deal if it is durable. I certainly appreciate the offer of a lend next time that I pour concrete.
