It was a decent season for me put in about 30 days, never got the one I was after but found a few that I liked.I took one on my last day that I had previously passed on a few times. In the end I took four bucks, two does, and one bear.

I've never hunted deer and don't care for eating it, so I think Bambi is safe around me. I do like to hunt pheasant but am just to busy with chestnuts during season. I hope to maybe hunt goose later this month. The only thing I've hunted in the past year were coyotes (tear up irrigation lines terribly, costing me $1,000+ in damages), scrub jays, and mocking birds (eat my tree fruits and seem to taunt me about it).

I don't plan on posting any photos but wonder if links to photos hosted elsewhere are okay?

Harvey, if the link doesn't go to a dead animal, I would think it's OK. They just don't want dead animals shown.

Jared says that the links to photos is okay (see here), so I think it's fine if they are dead or whatever since the main concern is that they photos hosted here get flashed across the main page.

I don't know if I've got any digital photos of a dead animal (haven't hunted in 5 years), but here is one Ringneck pheasant I admired out of season. http://www.chestnuts.us/images/Ringneck4033.jpg

I've got photos of my chestnut orchard at Correia Chestnut Farm - American Grown Fresh Chestnuts From Our Family Farm to You; large hand-harvested Colossal chestnuts, recipes, instructions for roasting chestnuts, chestnut roasters, chestnut knives

Thanks, Patty. That post a photo thread got too long and busy for me. We have a lot of geese flying around just a mile east of me and maybe I'll get over there and "shoot" some with my camera. Lots of swans also and some ducks. The biggest hunting going on are the egrets which stand motionless, waiting patiently for a vole to stick its head up in the alfalfa fields. It's amazing we can have any voles left with all of the egrets out there.

What are you talking about Harvey? You don't have look at every page to share a photo.

Easy for you to say! I'm easily addicted and can spend just hours looking at photos all day. Wish I could make a living at it! Once I post a photo I get subscribed to the thread again and then him taunted with e-mails saying "come look at us, Harvey!"

Why do I feel like I have antlers on my head during open season? I never knew there was so much hatred for ppl even talking about hunting.

You must not watch much news and have not seen much about PETA--that group of wackos that think more of animals than people and even tried to disrupt hunting until they passed laws against it. They have blown up research labs, released animals--some I think were even infected.

They have also gone to agility trials and let people's dogs out of their crates or ex-pens while the owners were busy with their other dog on the agility course. In one instance one of those loose dogs was run over by a car.
