Default Dolphins protect Chinese ship from pirates!!!

This is amazing! I have heard of a guy in extreme eastern Canada who has solved the communication with whales riddle. I am wondering if there is something like that going on here? Have the Chinese developed a new secret weapon, or are the dolphins picking up on the piracy thing?

This really intrigues me!

Cool! Let's hope the Chinamen on that ship will take dolphin meat off their menu.

Ken, Chinese, everything hunters!

There was an old story about WW2 which happened somewhere in the Indonesian/PNG area similar to this. It seems animals know a bad situation. Apparently a group of Japanese soldiers were crossing a river at night and out of no where a bunch of crocodiles came out and attacked and killed many of them. Weird, rite?

Maybe they are throwing dolfin food over to attract them(?)
What would happen if the pirate boats just went thru the dolfins? I'm sure the dolfin would move (?) It's very strange!

Considering the distance between the ship and the school, it is doubtful.

But if the pirates accidentally hit a dolphin, or their propeller hit one, it could disable their boat or cause them to capsize. (Why am I thinking like a pirate, anyhow??) It could have been that the school of dolphins were feeding on surface fish at just the right moment, too. Pure coincidence, perhaps?

Tog,

I'm familiar with that series of engagements. The Japanese took "refuge" in the swamp beyound the river. I'm just not sure which Croc species was responsible.

My father fought the Japanese in the Phillipines.

I agree with Chironex in that the dolphins were feeding and in a small boat, it is not wise to go through the mass.

Dolphins are VERY intelligent and social creatures (some hypothesize they are among the smartest creatures on earth (below humans, but on the level of chimps, etc)). There have actually been SEVERAL cases of dolphins protecting humans from shark attacks or otherwise in danger. I can't be sure that they were consciously trying to help in this situation, but it's possible!

Maybe this is the way dolphins are thanking humans for 'dolphin safe' tuna! LOL. Either way, I'm glad to have intelligent creatures on our side!
