Earthquake this am --in Indiana!
Not a dangerous one though. It was about 4.2 and lasted for only about 10 seconds. The weird part though was it made a noise that lots of people around here heard, kind of like a car hitting a telephone pole. It shook the house real quick and with the shake and the noise, I thought one of our old trees finally gave up and hit the house. I ran from window to window to see which one it was until it finally it me a couple of hours later what it could be.
The center was about 30 miles from us.

Re: Earthquake this am --in Indiana!
We've had several in the Dallas area over the last year or so and we had NO earthquakes in those areas until they started drilling for natural gas. The gas people tried to say it wasn't from them but everyone knows it is and the city is having independent people assess it. We'll see who gets slipped money...
Any drilling going on in your area? |

Re: Earthquake this am --in Indiana!
Congrats on experiencing such an infrequent event!
The weather page we use out here in CA has a listing of earthquake activity, like it's just another aspect of the overall climate (like mud slides and grass/forest fires). US earthquakes for the past week: Latest Earthquakes in the USA - Last 7 days

Re: Earthquake this am --in Indiana!
A 4.2 is enough to get your attention when you are used to 0.0!! 5.7s really gets your attention! I hope it is not a foreshock! I'm glad you are Ok.

Re: Earthquake this am --in Indiana!
I experienced one here in 04 - 05. I happened to get up for a drink of water around 2-3am & the floor shook & glasses were ratteling. Don't know what scale but it was on news. Most ppl slept through it. I felt lucky to witness it!
