![]() Has anyone ever tried big box stores to see if they would have any laying around they throw away? I want to use it to insulate my greenhouse and was trying to find some stores that might just throw it away. Thanks.

![]() You might try Craigslist and "Freecycle.org".
I've utilized Freecycle quite a bit to both get rid of stuff that was "too good to throw away" & it was where we got all the PVC pipe we needed to build a small greenhouse.

![]() In case you want to use it for protection of banana plants, you may be lucky, if you do not find
any. I have gone to quite some trouble to devise this shelter of bubble wrap sandwiched between two layers of construction grade polyethylene and found, that at best it makes a difference of 2^C (4^F) for brief periods of time. It may be serviceable in spring, providing you expect no more that a couple of hours of light frost, but I would not rely on it for any more than that. Best, Olaf

![]() To Blownz: The best way to insulate your greenhouse is to use two layers of greenhouse grade 6 mil plastic, (treated for UV resistance) not the stuff from the big box stores, or what is called "construction grade".
For max efficiency. trhe two layers should have an inflation fan blowing air between the two, keweping them separated. PS - I will answer your PM tomorrow. |
