Why single out Walmart? A lot of corn in supermarkets is GMO.

You know, they could save everybody a lot of trouble and just sell Agent Orange Humus Dip.

(remember that skit?)

I don't. Link?

Yes 2,4-D will be on the dinner table soon unless radical changes take place ASAP.

Sorry, no link. I believe it was from the Firesign Theatre.

Although I'm in agreement with the general motivations of the article you posted, the content is factually wrong in many respects. Its a fairly sloppy reactionary piece if you ask me.

Even though I agree with the main intention of the campaign, there are too many factual errors in the document for me to register with those folks -- it seems they are simply phishing for personal information.

You're their kind of guy!

And if the savvy folks at Walmart ever get the signatures from that site, they will notice the gross exaggerations and hysteria which deceived people into signing, and simply ignore the document.

Walmart is far more sophisticated than that. They employ some of the best data analysts and computational logistics people in the world. In the 90's I did some consulting work with them when they were exploring their next-generation computational platforms.

My guess is that if your signature actually gets to Walmart and if the list itself is of concern, the effect will be to decrement the stock order at the Walmart you most frequently purchase at near your home.

Bt sweetcorn has been around since the late 90s early 2000s. I've been evaluating commercially released varieties since the day I started working at UF. This is the first year Monsanto(semenis) has jumped into the game, but Syngenta(rogers) has had it for a while. As for the 2,4D, it is one of the most commonly used chemicals in agriculture. It was a component of Agent Orange, but not the one that had the dioxin problem. That was 2,4,5T and it wasn't being produced correctly and was contaminated with high levels of TCDD. You won't catch residues of 2,4D though because it is an auxin mimic and is rapidly metabolized.

I should be dead by now. In 2006, I supervised spraying 15000-20000 gallons of it on sugarcane. I used to work on a 60,000 acre farm.
