I'm always a little miffed when organizations like Farm Bureau that are supposedly pro-farm take aim at small farm programs or promotions. But, I know a lot of big farmers look at us as being in the way. We are the ones with crops that are sensitive to their practices. We don't really farm it's more of a hobby or lifestyle. I think small farms are there to complement the big farms. I'm not trying to compete with chiquita or del monte, but when someone wants a different type of banana, I'll be there to sell it to them. Variety is the spice of life and the big guys just aren't interested in variety.
