West coast has a good view.

The moon sets early making it very dark for viewing.
Please read the details (link) and see if you have a good vantage point.

The longest day of the year is June 21
Half of the grow season is over for most of us in the northern hemisphere.
We will start to lose about a minute of daylight for our plants.
If you are going to repot,split,transplant any of your plants your grow season is winding down.

There is a cautionary tale about "keep looking up" in the children's book Struwwelpeter written by Heinrich Hoffmann, in 1845 Germany. Mark Twain translated it into English, but, the poetry sounds much better in German.

Most of us are on the wrong side of the planet for this one but the full moon will still look awesome.
Some great photos will be had.

Actually, you should look down at the sidewalk for cracks, dog poo, and money. If you have normal peripheral vision, you will still see other people approaching.

About 5 years ago, Walgreens offered AARP members $0.01 per mile (in "award points" each worth $0.001) to walk for exercise. AARP had an image advertising this offer in which people were walking while looking ahead smiling. On the AARP forum, I wrote that you can find more money than that lying on the sidewalk but those people in the picture will miss it and step in dog poo. I walk 30 miles/week and I once found $17 and once found $20. I often find pennies but I don't bother to pick them up. Shame on me!

its been said; the people who wont pick up a penny don't need it. and the ones who wont pick up a penny tails up are the rich ones.

as for me if I pick up a penny no matter how it lays, I get to spend someone else's money.

This is an annual autumn event.

For those in dark sky areas this is a treat.
Just go outside and lay on the warm driveway and look up.

Viewing is good for a few days.

And check out that cresent moon(early am) while your at it.

Remember the first bright objects that appear after the sun goes down are planets.
Currently there are 3 easily seen planets at dusk.

Venus which is the one closest and brightest on the western horizon looks just like a mini cresent moon if viewed with binoculars.

Last full moon on Thanksgiving was about 100 years ago.

Christmas comet

This is somewhat easy to see(naked eye) if your in a dark area.
You will be able to see this one for a few weeks yet.

Near the Subaru logo

Check it out ....it is one of the top ten flybys of the century.

Shortest day and longest night of the year.

We will gain about a minute of daylight each day.
Winter is almost over.

For me in about 90+ days I can put the cool tolerant bananas out.
