Re: Major Winter Snow Storm For Mid Atlantic Seaboard
Well, "Officially" at National Airport here in DC they measured 16.4". I dunno why they use that stupid airport as the "official" for the area, because just about everywhere else got 20+ inches. We live about 1 mile south of the airport on the Potomac, and I measured 26" on the grass in 3 different places. They must take the measurements on some sort of "ground" thats heated and doesnt start accumulating until theres already been 3-5" of snow fallen everywhere else.
Trachy's should be fine! Pots never even came close to freezing, though the leaves did get bent down and almost totally covered, but they bounced right back up when I cleaned them off last night. Ill try and get some pics up soon. I got about 200 I took that I have to go thru! WOW! |

Re: Major Winter Snow Storm For Mid Atlantic Seaboard
Dave, can I come over for a dip in the pool? LOL
What is that big perfect round white ball top of the last pic? Is it a round mountain or a big snowball coming at ya?

Re: Major Winter Snow Storm For Mid Atlantic Seaboard
Well, You wanted pics? Well.. here ya go! LOTS of em! Im not sure ill post ALL of them in this thread, but Ive uploaded quite a few pics from the storm. All taken in the Del Ray section of Old Town Alexandria, VA. Check out my photo album for the rest. Enjoy!
Small potted windmill all wrapped and ready for the big snow / cold. large potted windmill all wrapped and ready for the big snow/ cold. And the small one with about 2 feet of accumulation late last nite, AFTER I had cleaned it off several times. Looking down on it. The hole is where the snow did not accumulate from the heat coming out of the wrapped palm. The large windmill after 2 feet of snow just finished falling. This one had not been cleaned off the entire time: Small one all cleaned up the morning after. Those leaves bounced right back! Large one all cleaned up the morning after. Leaves bounced back like a champ! Spanish Moss in the snow: More snowy spanish moss: Front Yard under 2 feet late last nite. Large windmill palm is between the two chairs (behind them) just to the right of the wreath between the windows. Tons of shoveling! Those piles are 3-4 feet high! Red Cedar in the back bending under the weight: Large vehicle, buried, and not by a plow either. Buried! This was about 7 hours before it stopped, with about 16-17" on the ground at that point. It got ALOT deeper! Large drifts hanging off the roof of our neighborhood gas station: Looking down my street the day after after, and its STILL not plowed. Glad we got a 4WD Jeep! LOVE IT!: Front & Side yard. Yes, I shoveled it all! Front yard the day after. Large potted windmill palm is below the wreath in the center. |
