Re: Missed you all Life has hit us hard this yr
Tammy,
I am so sorry for your losses. I know exactly how you feel. We lost our entire home, outbuildings and garage to a fire not that long ago that a neighbor is responsible for. My daughters dog was burnt over 85% of her body. Believe it or not, there is a light at the end of what looks like a very dark tunnel. A few folks here at the Org. have offered to help out and I couldn't have been more appreciative!! They really are great here! If there is anything you feel I could help you with, please don't hesitate to PM me! Even if you need a shoulder.... Enjoy your Holiday season! Sue |

Re: Missed you all Life has hit us hard this yr
Know a good attorney ?
It was the electric companies fault the same night our home caught on fire at the box the bridge here in Florence caught on fire. both due to loosing neutral the extra wattage went to the phone line and thats what caught on fire . My cat literally Jumped on my belly i woke up went out to the garage and it was full of smoke i didn't see flames or anything until i went out side , my insurance went from 600 a yr to 2400 a yr and thats Wrong. they said they where going to do arbitration but i have not heard anything its been since Jan 22 luckily i had the wisdom to shop . they wanted to just put up t111 and it was 8g in Florence so i went to a family mill and got hardy plank 50 yr and O.S.B. sub siding for the same price . i lost my job over not having electricity for 10 days while i waited for them to give me the OK to have it back on . NO One would touch the house with out insurance approval and i own it free and clear . I guess it could be worse but id like to nail the jerk wads. Tammy |

Re: Missed you all Life has hit us hard this yr
Tammy,
I know! Our home burnt because the neighbor on the next road over was burning "something" and walked away when it got out of control. It burned across 3- 10 acre parcels and all 14 of ours, garage, outbuildings, house down to the ground inside 3 hours!! 8 fire companies responded.. The fire inspector said he would have no trouble finding the person responsible but when it came down to it he said that two homes were burning in 20 mph gusts that day and he would charge noone since he couldn't prove which one was more responsible!!You'd think when they bulldozed their yard that would have been proof enough!! Our insurance company got stuck with the bill but found EVERY way to get around paying! Even on the extra riders for my husbands show cars,my custom van, antiques etc. We lost it ALL!! My daughters dog spent 5 1/2 months in the Purdue University burn unit having skin grafts and surgeries$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. House and garage are now up but not finished by far and lets not even get going about all of my plants lost!! Most were over 25 years old! I know your pain and frustration... I think in these cases we have to be the bigger person and just let it go although as hard as it may be, because in the long run they will get theirs! I would imagine that your insurance company could be of some help if they want to recoupe some of their funds. I would push that with them, especially since your insurance jumped so much!! Fight that! Maybe a good attorney here on the Org. will read your post and be able to help you out?! Take care and best wishes. Sue |

Re: Missed you all Life has hit us hard this yr
I wish that i could find an honest insurance company.
If like looking for a needle in a hay stack i found one Once but it was in mud and i still have the indent on my foot . LOL yeah i get frustrated . the thing that bothered me the most was not the fire. i had an electric generator and we tried to stay warm by using the fire place . the worst was all the food going to waste, watching my tank die. with a promise they would get on it . the adjuster taking 3 vacations in 1 month one he was sick the other was family time then a 2 week . i have all this documented . i called they sent me to a total of 4 adjusters to help . i just don't know whats up with them but i do know life gets better . i got shot in the head in 1997 and was told i would be bed ridden for the rest of my life .well my pup needs a walk so i better get her ready its raining out side . Sometimes ya just get frustrated and i lost all my bananas i stored them in the garage. I know they can be replaced but its still a life that didn't need to go. I guess i really Miss my dog the most . i got every one out of the home i thought in time .Tammy |

Re: Missed you all Life has hit us hard this yr
Cassie,
Thanks for the encouragment! Tammy, If you would like a new start on your bananas in the spring. PM me and if I have any new pups from my new plants I would be happy to send you what I can..Sorry, I can't help you with your salt tank. My 250 reef tank was lost in our fire. Have a simply wonderful Christmas and New year! Paulo, I sometimes wonder Why? we even have insurance companies if not only to waste our hard earned money on! I've NEVER had a claim on mine(they were both my homeowners and car)but yet they still found a way to weasle out of everything! To everyone, Enjoy your Christmas and New Year holidays! Sue |

Re: Missed you all Life has hit us hard this yr
Yep, My tank was a self supporting reef. I had had it for almost 15 years. It traveled from Illinois to Nebraska and then to Indiana with only minor loss untill the fire.. Lost all of my citrus, tropical, sub tropical fruits as well as Hawaiian flowers, orchids, palms and a few others which most were over 25 years old. Citrus were in full fruit and flower.. I agree, things like this do stink but I also feel that all things happen for a reason and do make us stronger! I am working on the plant restock and hopefully the reef tank will get started as soon as I can afford a tank. Someone I know has already given me their old filter so I am hoping to make that work. As far as the other stuff.... Don't know..... We'll tackle that when it comes!
