Normandy
Belated by one day, but didn't want to let the 65th anniversary of D-Day go by without a mention. There are at least 2 European sites I want to visit before I die. One is Auschwitz, where I lost a number of family members. The second is the beaches of D-Day and the cemeteries where the heroes who died are resting under long rows of alabaster white stones (and all of them were heroes). The two extremes of human potential. Our own undying gratitude to all those who are still with us (and I read that 853 World War II American vets die every day), and to the families of those who paid the extreme sacrifice, British, Canadian, French and American. Thank you.
