Show me your tiki statues!!!
I have a friend that has offered to carve me another tiki statue out of my dead hurricane cut Sabal palmetto. Yes, I am going to get a replacement from the place where I purchased it. So I thought I might find some use for the trunk. Anyway, it will be about 5-6' tall, so it will be making a statement. I have been surfing the web looking for a good design, but so far I have not found something unique. So, any of you that have pics of a really cool tiki statue, please post a pic of it if you don't mind. Need help!!!

Re: Show me your tiki statues!!!
Hey Randy!!
This the best I could do. And don't laugh at them. I picked these up this spring at Biglots and painted them. Iam going to make a miniature "3ft tall" tiki hut to put them on. Lynn

Re: Show me your tiki statues!!!
Lynn,
Nice find at Big Lots... You did a great job at dressing it up!!! As far as other tiki items, a friend in PA directed me to this forum (below). It has some super cool stuff and I am already getting some ideas for the statue. They have a section that deals exclusively with carvings and designs. Amazing to think they have forums for everything... Tiki Central Forums - Forum Index Look down to the 7th section and you will see where they post all their masks, totems, statues, and other tiki art... Neat little place to check out in your spare time, if you have any that is... |

Re: Show me your tiki statues!!!
Thanks for the site Randy!
I carved some walking sticks out of diamond willow. I beleive its only found in Alaska. I still have the walking sticks. And the diamonds are very distinctive. I want to try carving a tiki. I don't think it will be to hard. Just tedious. When I like something and want it, my patience and tenacity knows no bounds. Gonna check out this site and get some pointers and go for it. Thanks again, Lynn

Re: Show me your tiki statues!!!
Hey Randy and Lynn - you have given me a great idea. When my fishtail palms die, I can't grow orchids on all of them as they are not in suitable positions, but I can try to carve them! So now I have a year to look for suitable designs and get a chainsaw! Thanks for the Tiki Central link - really useful.
