Ugh... the wind is EVIL...
We had a wind advisory, which included gusts of about 50MPH (though I don't think they got THAT strong in the city). It wasn't good on my bananas... on the plus, it gives it an even more tropical "just got out of a hurricane" feel to it. Some leaves were snapped off, others torn. To think these plants had lmost every leaf nice n' green and bearly a slash on any leaf just two days ago. It's too cold for them to recover leaves, so I guess it's time to chop them down. It's a shame because I wanted to keep them up until maybe November... = (

Re: Ugh... the wind is EVIL...
We had that same wind 2 nights ago & it all went your way. Lots of branches down & some places w/ power out. I picked up 10 big potted plants that fell over. Thank God none were broken!

Re: Ugh... the wind is EVIL...
The problem now is that if it were warmer out, nice new leaves would grow in and take over in no time... that's not so - it's barely hitting 50°F to 60°F daytime... it's not gonna look good again until April or May.
Thanks for the reply's.... good support group! = ) |

Re: Ugh... the wind is EVIL...
Shredded leaves are not a problem for the plant - they may not give you the look you wanted but the nana is happy with shredded leaves! So don't cut them off just because they are tattered - that is what bananas do! You can't always keep them pretty!
