Re: Mekong Giant vs Basjoo

Between major job changes over the last year and total rebound year for bananas I haven't been in the mood anyway, but staying in Charleston now and a warm winter is putting me in gear. 75 degrees...

Re: Is Musa "Ice-Cream" the same as Namwah?

They look very similar when growing and seem to be equally cold-hardy in my area but the fruit is very different. I was fortunate enough to get a BJ pup in the summer of 2021 and it fruited the...

Re: Question about Pup

I'm no expert but I'd have just let it roll. I have been in "don't give a rip" mode this year because of a potential move and didn't cover, mulch, protect or pamper anything. Everything grew back,...

Re: Arctic Blast

All I did was bring in my citrus that were in containers. Everything else is on it's own. Hell I'm moving south anyway. Crazy, sustained cold here.

Re: Anyone dry store any AAA type varieties?

Been dealing with nains for 3 years now, never tried to save any. they always pup back in the spring. I'd sure like to get one to fruit. Same with dwarf red. Good luck.

Re: small bananas

If you're asking me those were 2 that ripened on a small rack of namwahs. The rest are a bit bigger but still small. This is the plant that I hacked off a 5' pup from the mother and planted it...

Re: AeAe pup!

You know that will be a shame and has always been a factor. We'll keep the place until my daughter is out of college next summer and I'll be a road warrior. After that we're gone.

Really sorry about not just your plants but everything else that's happened down there. No idea about the salt water thing.

Re: Hurricane Ian

Man I have 2 "pups" over 8' tall and a few more of varying heights. That legacy will live on and the fruit may ripen up. I'm saddest about the PH but it has plenty of offspring as well.
